Stone Age farming

A study based on the analysis of Neolithic sites spread from Bulgaria to England has shed new light on the methods of our continentĺs earliest farmers.

The paper published ináProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that as early as 8,000 years ago, Stone Age farmers across Europe were working their crop lands intensely, irrigating and applying manure.

Among the authors is Lazar Ninov of theáNational Institute of Archaeology at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia.
