Second Danube bridge opens
The new road and railway bridge crossing the Danube between Vidin and Calafat has been opened. Tolls range from ?6 to ?37, depending on the type of vehicle.
The bridge has four lanes of roadway, one railway track, and two walkways. It cost over ?220m.
At 1791m it is one of the longest on the Danube.
'Danube 2' is part of the Pan-European transport corridor IV. More than 400,000 vehicles are expected to use it during its first year.
