Bulgarian concert pianist scales new heights
Bulgaria has a long heritage of wonderful singers and musicians. One of today’s rising stars is the pianist Plamena Mangova.
She was born in Pleven. After training at the State Academy of Music in Sofia, she came to international prominence in 2007 when she was awarded second prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition Brussels. In the same year her first solo CD recording (Shostakovich) was awarded a “Diapason d'Or de l'Année”.
These days Plamena Mangova plays at festivals and with leading orchestras all over Europe, and has now been signed by one of the world’s top classical music agencies in London.
